It has been stated that the more this number decreases, the better a vehicle can conduct a cold start.

Jan 15, 2019 · It’s the same exact engine as previous gti’s, I would just run 5w-40. The only reason they recommend 0w-20 over 5w-40 is fuel economy. Toyota did the same thing with the 2gr-fe 3.5 v6, it was 5w-30 then switched to 0w-20. I would run the 502.00 oil, it’s what it was designed to run on.
Jul 7, 2020 · During cruising, 0w20 is just as quiet as 5w40. MPG no different I've been one to bring up this topic more than it's worth. If I continue to use 0w20, it will be for 5k mile oci with a dexos1 quality level motor oil. If i use 508, i may go 7.5 to 10k. Not worried about engine failure or issues requiring oil recipes.
